Use groups and channels

Last updated Aug 16, 20261 min read

How are groups and channels different?

Groups and channels are multi-person conversations in Chat. Your role and available controls depend on that conversation: you may be able only to view content, send messages, or review group information. Features not shown for your role are not available to you.

Find and open a group or channel

  1. Open Chat.
  2. Select the intended group or channel from the conversation list.
  3. Open the conversation title to view available name, description, members, or settings.
  4. If joining or an invite is available, use only the options displayed in that conversation.

Safe and respectful use

  • Read the conversation’s rules or description before sending.
  • Do not repost sign-in information, another person’s personal data, or private content.
  • If you create or receive an invite link, share it only with trusted people.
  • Leaving, member management, and setting changes are available only when your role permits them.
